Tattoo and apprenticeship

Tattoo ready, got color on thursday ;-) It heals pretty fast.

Meanwhile my apprenticeship in the tattoo shop is going well. They are thinking about letting me tattoo my masters leg already - even it is only 3 weeks that have gone by. Hopefully the tattoo will look good! I´m gonna make a photo and show it to you when it is ready :-D

Day and homework nr. 1 !

The first day of my new apprenticeship is over and I have to say: I really like everything so far !
The guys at the shop are totally laid back and cool and I learned A LOT on just that one day. But I have to focus on how everything works in the shop first (how to set up a station for tattooing and stuff) and then on drawing all-time-favorite tattoos for practice. For example the rose above! This was my first task for the weekend - to draw a rose in a rich red with a little background. Will present this to my "master" on monday ;-D

Something wicked this way comes...

Yeah well, this is a random post... but with big news ( this time for real) ;-P

First of all - you may have noticed - I turned from blogging for some time . This was because of a little trip my boyfriend and me did. The consequence of that trip is :

We will be getting married next year !!!

He fell down to his knees in the most romantic situation and gave me a ring so beautiful you can´t imagine (well until I´ll post a photo of it - haha).

I´m so happy happy happy !

---

So ok, second news is that my picture of the Cupcake Geisha (?) is finished.

---

And third one:

I went to another tattoo shop yesterday for a job interview - and after they spoke to me in person and saw my portfolio they told me they don´t wanna let me go again !!!

I´ll be starting a tattoo apprenticeship at their shop in May !!!

 ---

Folks, the first and the last are the best news I got in years and I am totally dizzy now because there are so many changes coming into my life soon. I hope I can accomplish my goals.

I wish you the nicest of days everybody!

My boyfriend´s birthday / the future

I wanna share some pictures of my boyfriend´s birthday with you (it is one week ago now...).
It was the same evening when I was rejected by the tattoo shop like I posted before. Therefore I got a sad look in my eyes on the photos. I instantly noticed it when I looked at them for the first time. But after all it has been a nice birthday with friends, music , lots of cake, junkfood and some booze.

This is one of the cakes I made for the party. A Queen Victoria Sponge Cake. I baked a creamy and tasty NY Cheesecake, too, but I got no photo of it... it was gone real quick after I put it on the table ;-)

We dressed up my boyfriend as the main character of the book he wrote ( it is not ready yet) and had some fun looking at him feeling happy and getting a little childish shooting around with toy laser guns. So cute <3

Did the costume just the evening before the party when he was away for two hours...stress!

Hahaha YES! I can finally see the results of my 10 kg weightloss till now.

We´ve already been a little tipsy when these pics were taken.

a typical peace! But on this photo you can see the disappointment in my eyes very clear...

---

Well, for I am ill now since some days I got enough time to think about my future. Will I get another chance to get an apprenticeship in a tattoo shop? What if nobody wants me? Will I have to work in an office again, like I did before? I don´t wanna. I´m very afraid of this. My self confidence is all blown away even if I got the plan of visiting the tattoo convention to introduce myself and my drawings.

Let´s just call it a night for now.

The shock

So... As promised the tattoo shop's owner called me on saturday.
Unfortunately they decided to choose another person for the apprenticeship ;_;
We were on our way to my boyfriends birthday party saturday evening when my mobile started ringing. And instead of being happy and looking forward to the party the call left me totally devastated and crying. I didn't want to, but my body had its own plan. I put so much effort in getting the apprenticeship and now I have nothing. Well it isn't the only tattoo shop in the world but it is not that easy to get an apprenticeship in this genre.

I wouldn't have been so devastated if the reason they rejected me wouldn't have been so strange though. The boss told me I am not able to express myself correctly. I would always beat around the bush and would talk too complicated to get along with customers later because they would prefer simple and clear answers. For me it was a shock because I always had good marks in writing essays and doing presentations in school and the time I went to the university. Everybody around me says that I really am a person who can express herself adequate and always knows what to say. And suddenly this should be the reason why I wasn't picked?

Further they told me that the second reason was that they don't have the trust in my strength to manage the stressful job of being a tattooer. I could bite myself because of that for I told them that I had problems with depression because of the relationship of my mother and me back when I was a child. I just didn't want to lie about this any longer - and let's be realistic here : Almost every second person nowadays has such problems but doesn't want to talk about it in public or even with friends or family! What the tattoo shop owner didn't realise is what a fire burns within me when it comes to tattooing and art. I am able to forget everything around me when I'm creative and I am happy when I get ideas from customers that I can implement for them into a drawing or tattoo motive. But anyway, it is over now and I can only shake my head. The only thing they liked was my talent in drawing and they told me to try it again in other shops.

Now I'm still left behind in my old situation in which I used to live for such a long time. But I will put myself together and go on. In March there will be the international tattoo convention in Frankfurt and I will attend there with a friend of mine. I'm going to take my portfolio and walk around showing what I'am capable of to some of the tattooers. Maybe I'll get another chance. Time will tell.

News from the job interview

Hello guys and girls,

for I didn't find the chance to tell you the news from my job interview at a tattoo shop in Frankfurt yesterday ( because I had so many things to do the whole day) I'll do that now!

We talked about one and a half hour ( ! ) so the boss and an ex- apprentice now working at the shop fulltime took a lot of time for me to make everything clear - I really appeciated that. I think we came along with each other pretty well and talked about all kind of things regarding tattoos. My drawing skills and creativity where tested, too. I had to draw a cover- up idea over a very bad old tramp stamp . The second test showed a bad tribal in the middle of an upper arm. My task was to expand it , so the whole arm above it would be covered. I did a nordic style wolve's head tribal with the old tribal as it's arm and a paw on it. Lucky me - they seemed to like it. After the apprenticeship I can stay and work at the shop fulltime ( if they choose to pick me ...). That'd be great!

I will hear from them til saturday and so I'm staying excited ! I'll update the blog if I hear something new.

-------

English:

AND ... at this point I wanna thank everybody ( my boyfriend, my friends, bloggerfriends and family) for the support!!! Yesterday everybody wanted to hear from me how it was going, did hold their thumbs for me and wanna strengthen my back while I'm in the apprenticeship ( again: If they pick me...) . This is a moment in life I realise that I have people around me who really like or love me. And I could cry because I'm so happy about it. Thank you very much, from all my heart !

Good Video For Tattoo Apprenticeship

For me as a beginner informing myself about tattoo techniques is pretty important and exciting, too !
I think this video is great to watch because the artist gives a lot of information about how to do a good tattoo ! It´s one of the best videos on Youtube if you ask me....

Eeeeeek!

Now isn´t that disgusting???

Nah, not really! The white stuff on the tattoo is just some dead skin. That´s common when its healing. I´m looking forward for my healed fresh new tattoo. I hate it to treat the sore parts like a raw egg for days after inking!!!

Do It Yourself Day

Yesterday I finally did it and tattooed myself after I thought about it for some weeks. I didn't have any doubts when I put the tattoo machine together and prepared the station with all the necessary stuff. Not even when I did the first stitch. Somehow I knew I wouldn´t deform the drawing on my foot. And that is how it turned out at the end:

I´m more than pleased with the outcome of this tattoo. And it didn´t hurt that much because you are so concentrated on doing it right!

Than I decided to have an undercut again and shaved one side of my head with the hairtrimmer I normally cut my boyfriends hair with. Turned out quite good, too. I´m happy with everything I DIYed yesterday!

Have a nice weekend everybody!

Tattooing - burning desire / the path to the future

There are so much youngsters that  just do what their family/ other people want(s) them to when it comes to getting a job. That´s because of the pressure everyone builds up on you - Become something mightier and better! Earn much money! Be someone that gains respect in the world! But is following the way that others lead you that one thing that makes you happy? For the most it is not.

I´ve been like this... I followed. Until the day I realised that there is something that I´m really passionate about. And that thing is tattooing. I´m aware if it now and I´m thankful for that, even if some people say: What??? You studied at an university! Why the heck do you want to downgrade yourself to be a tattoo artist??? Because I follow my own way now and not that of somebody else! For them it might be a downgrade but for me, for my level of happiness in life, it´s a sh*t load of an upgrade!

I´m not in an apprenticeship right now ´cause I have some health issues to deal with first. But I know a very cool guy who runs his own tattooshop and he gives me some tips here and there. He told me the first thing to do would be to get myself a tattoo machine. Just to get the feeling.
I was lucky - my granny bought me a set for my birthday!

by Killer Ink

She´s a very tolerant and cheeky grandma! She likes the idea of me becoming a tattoo artist and voluntarily offered me to ink a bird on her forearm (´cause she likes birds!). But on the other hand she doesn´t like tattoos on her granddaughter. It´s crazy :-)

So now I practice on pig skin until my day will come. Here are some of my works. The black spots on the skin around and in the tattoos are shreds that have been in the pig skin as I got it - soaked with black ink. Maybe from the tires of a vehicle that ran over the skin??? I don´t know... just ignore it ;-)

First try - had no stencil, just started to tattoo.

Second try - still without stencil.
The same thing... no stencil.
First one WITH a stencil... made from a drawing done by me. My cat Nox in sugarskull style.

Follow your dreams!
