New ink !
Remember? I got tattooed by the amazing Marco Schmidgunst yesterday ! I´m more than satisfied with my new ink !!! In fact I love it !!!!!!!! Plus I had a great and funny conversation with Marco while I was sitting in his Studio for about four hours.
Take a look at the result:
Hopefully it will stop moistening because of all the blood and stuff by tomorrow ;-)
It´ll get color on May the 16th.

Something wicked this way comes...
Yeah well, this is a random post... but with big news ( this time for real) ;-P
First of all - you may have noticed - I turned from blogging for some time . This was because of a little trip my boyfriend and me did. The consequence of that trip is :
We will be getting married next year !!!
He fell down to his knees in the most romantic situation and gave me a ring so beautiful you can´t imagine (well until I´ll post a photo of it - haha).
I´m so happy happy happy !

So ok, second news is that my picture of the Cupcake Geisha (?) is finished.

And third one:
I went to another tattoo shop yesterday for a job interview - and after they spoke to me in person and saw my portfolio they told me they don´t wanna let me go again !!!
I´ll be starting a tattoo apprenticeship at their shop in May !!!

Folks, the first and the last are the best news I got in years and I am totally dizzy now because there are so many changes coming into my life soon. I hope I can accomplish my goals.

Ornament vines
A new idea to complete my back tattoo: Baroque / rococo vines. They could be placed on both shoulderblades with my flying bat in the middle. Awwwwww that would be great. Let´s see what my not-tattoo-loving-boyfriend has to say to my plan.
At first I thought I´d be getting this one I posted before, but when a tattoo artist told me that it would cost about 600 Euro to make it real, I almost fainted :-D lol. So I had to think of something smaller to decorate my back. Well, here it is, haha...
Btw. ! I´ve been to Frankfurt International Tattoo Fair this saturday ! It was great, will report more in the next post.

The wolf and the vampire
A little drawing I worked on like possessed on one evening.
I think it is ok being a pure pencil drawing without colors... Maybe I should only put some red into the stuff that drops from the wolf´s mouth - so everybody can recognize it as blood ;-)
But meanwhile the heraldic beast girl got some color.
On the paper it is much more shaded in a light cold grey but you can´t see it very good in the scan. The scanner erased so much color out of it and I wasn´t able to repair it with my graphic programs.
Have to turn myself onto coloring the baroque-geisha-with-japanese-dragon-thingy now.
Don´t know why but I´m much more into drawing than coloring atm.

Heraldic
This drawing took me about half an hour this evening. Inspired by a tattoo flash of Spider Murphy´s Tattoo but whether did I copy it nor drew the exact same thing. I saw the flash once ( a heraldic gryphon with a ladies face in it´s mouth) and did my own version just by using my own head and imagination. Didn´t even look at the flash when I did it :-) So I think I´m not a kind of copy cat...haha.

New outline drawing
Atypical for me, but - this is a drawing I really like.
You know, in the years that I´ve been addicted to manga I did pictures with groups of characters which have been more detailed. But nowadays I get hold of myself so often drawing one main object and that´s it. Therefore I´m pleased with the details and the arranging of the objects in this drawing. Have to do something like that more often in the future!
But first of all I´m looking forward to coloring. Every picture gets its own dynamic while creating it - you don´t know what the final version will look like :-D But it is wise to listen to your intuition when it comes to art, I think, because the outcome will be better than every meticulously constructed drawing could be.

Deathhead Hawkmoth woman
Time went by since I showed you this lady and a part of my working space to you for the first time.
And I totally forgot to load her up here now that she´s ready (since a couple of days or weeks to be exact lol). I´m pretty pleased with it, but I also see many mistakes I want to avoid in the future. I know I know... always the weird and never satisfied artists...hehe.

A reason 2 draw
Yeaaaah... after some time I finally got briefed to draw a tattoo motive again !
I use to draw some myself just for me, but much too seldom because I´m not always mused to do so.
It suddenly changes every time someone has a vague idea of something he wants to get tattooed and talks to me about it. Because my head is overflowing with ideas and I am eager to fulfill the customers wish then.
The drawing above shows the outcome of the idea to get the crest of the city the customer was born tattooed - combined with her wish to get a hummingbird inked some time later. "Why not put these things together?", we thought.
I mailed her a thumbnail. Let´s see if she likes it or not :-D

Another try on the plastic vampire teeth tattoo...

Naaaaahhhh... I have to admit I liked the idea of a green shaded background but since I brought it to paper my opinion has changed. But I like the sharper fangs my blogger - friends suggested :-P
I´ll draw up some other versions. It will take some time until I´m happy with it, like always.
And btw... this would be the first motive on my body that I drew and tattooed myself!
I´m open for more good ideas on this :-)

Zen
Hey hey !
Pheeeew - I got briefed by a friend of mine lately to paint something for her.
She gave me a photo of a zen garden as a stencil. But sooner or later in the process of painting some improvisation sneaks in. And the improvised parts are the best, I think. I´m pleased that I finished this broad canvas today.
Oh, and I needed a little refreshment after putting down the brush, too ^___^

The Article - RELEASED !
Wow !
What a coincidence ! I was looking for a good idea for my 100. post when my relatives told me that the newspaper with the special article about young artists (including me) is available now!
I instantly ran to the grocery store, bought one, sprinted back home, dived right onto the couch and started reading. I still can´t believe they printed my photo this large...
The whole story can be found into Germanys Höchster Kreisblatt.
And for all the others who can´t read German I´ll translate:
Kat loves the surprising, the profound. A cat with a stiff collar, a dead mouse in a cocktailglass - everytime she´s painting the world turns into a complex and sometimes frightening entity.
Everything is possible then.
"I think it´s great when the beholder doesn´t see every detail within one view. There must be always more to discover", says the young artist.
With her paintings, willingly opulent and sometimes overflowing with baroque elements, she expresses her own lifestyle. "Classy and a little off one´s trolley with slight signs of insanity", she says laughing.

She broke up her studies in Design and Communication because there was too much focus on working with the computer. "I like to work with my hands, having the control over my pen and the material", she explains.
One of her first chances of success has been the exhibition of one of her works for the competition of the "Frankfurter Sparkasse" (a bank in Germany).

To live just from her art, that´s something she doesn´t dare to believe ( Comment from me: Hummm... I DO dare to believe btw :-D But it´s soooo hard to make it happen!!!). But she has found her way to make money with her talent: "I want to absolve an apprenticeship in tattooing and open a tattoo-shop one day" (Comment from me: I don´t just wanna make money with it - Tattooing is the one thing I most desire to practice in my life. Even more than painting with acrylics ;-) ).

The Interview
Wohooooo fellas!
I had an interview with a nice lady from a local german newspaper today, who visited me together with a photographer. The article tells my story from when I started drawing in my childhood until today and even how I realised that I wanna become a tattoo artist!
